We are a membership-driven and largely volunteer-staffed organization. Our purpose is to build community support, a “village”, with services that can make it easier for seniors to stay in their homes comfortably and for as long as possible. Organized as a non-profit, we are modeled on the grassroots concepts of community and mutual support that characterize a village.
North Oakland Village staff focuses on seven areas of expertise to provide support to our members. While each staff member has elected his or her area of primary focus, there is full cooperation among all areas in order to best serve our membership. Our vision and mission statements inform our organizational identity.

Our vision is to build a community where all are supported, valued, and thrive as they age.
Our mission is to support aging in community in Oakland and Piedmont through programs and services which provide options for independence, engagement, and well-being.
